"It is being placed in glass jars sealed in steel barrels and buried, God knows where."

Its actually been well looked after. I agree nuclear waste sucks but In the 1950's, conditions were horrible enough one winter to produce a thick trademark 'Pea Soup' London fog. The only problem was, it was composed mostly of coal soot, not water vapor.

Thousands died.

And the UK was one of the first countries to adopt clean air legislation and pollution control laws. They chose to switch to nuclear and have had better air since.

Also the whole chernobyl thing was sad but it was an old type of power plant, one which they dont use today. Also it was under funded and not cared for very well. When it exploded it only killed 31 people. Coal mining kills thousands.

so before we start slagging off about nuclear power, do the tiniest bit more research cause its always good to hear the other side of the story. hey, Im from NZ. we are all anti nuclear power. We are scared of the radiation but get this, our biggest city's main hospital gives off twice as much radiation as the whole united states army per year.

The nuclear waste recycling section has me really worried. Where does it go for now? What happens to our future generation if they by mistake dig it out? Hmmm... something to think about I guess.
