France actually touches three bodies of water- The Atlantic Ocean, The Mediterranean Sea and The English Channel. France has almost 3,000 miles of shoreline. There are seven mountain ranges in France, The Pyrenees, Alps, Auvergne, Vosges, Jura, Morvan and Corsica. France actually borders eight countries: Belgium, Spain, Luxembourg, Italy, Germany, Monaco, Andorra and Switzerland. France is divided into 22 regions. France is famous for it`s cheeses like Brie, Camembert and Rochefort. There are actually around 500 different cheeses in France. They also love their perfumes and have the best in the world! France has the most famous bicycle race in the world which is the Tour of France. France and England are connected by the Eurotunnel which is underwater!

In 1386 in France there was a public execution by hanging of a pig! The pig had killed a small child. The country is often referred to as L`Hexagone because of the geometric shape. France was actually formed with the Treaty of Verdun in 853AD. The country has it`s own motto- Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite and the anthem is `La Marseillaise.` There was a man in France named Michel Lotito who had the most disgusting diet on earth! He ate 18 bikes, 15 supermarket carts, 7 televisions, 1 pair of coffin handles, 6 chandeliers, 2 beds, 1 pair of skis, 1 computer and a small aircraft in his lifetime and never got indigestion! In France there is an actual place called,“Y“. Louis the IV of France had a stomach twice the size of a normal stomach! There was once a law in France that no one could sell dolls that did not have human faces. I guess that anything else was too scary. If you like marine life then you would love Marineland in France. It has the largest whale tank in the world!

It is believed the word denim originated in France. Other words with their origins in France are the guillotine, chauvinism and sadism. People are different in France especially the men and women. The men are very helpful but the women are standoffish. The men will help any woman even if she doesn’t speak the language. The men are gallant and friendly. Back when Napoleon was king he planted many trees along roadways to keep his soldiers cool on hot days. However, now the French government wants the trees cut down to prevent motorists from getting seizures while driving!
