One may think that such a solid ritual would have quite an epicenter of an origin. But the truth is far from that, a baby tooth would be placed under the pillow you would place under your head, then overnight the Tooth Fairy would place money under that. But the true myth is a compilation of several stories from old European Customs. In Venice, it was the story of an old witch who would do the job of giving money for teeth. In France, it was the Virgin Mary that gave candy or money for teeth of the young. Some cults buried the tooth underground, others threw it at the sun for good luck or to please the gods. The fairy, like all other fairy was an Irish custom, so when they arrived in North America in the 19th century, the custom of the Tooth Fairy carried over.

If your not a good christian you might not know what these persons actually do in the church and even those who are good Christians don’t know the actual meaning of these words. The word Reverend first appeared in the 17th century England and it comes from the Latin word “reverendus“, it means someone or something “worthy of respect.” Pastor is the Latin word for shepherd, which is how Jesus himself referred himself. Shepherding was a very popular job in that era, like many last names that were associated to jobs, Pastor is one of them. Parson is not widely used like the others, because it comes from more of a local background. It appeared in North England at first, where the town’s priest knew how to write and read so they called him the town person. If you’ve ever been to the north part of England, you might need the explanation how person became parson.
Also another reason why pastors in North England are called Parsons is, because Parish Churches originated there. Even now they’re an important part of the communities in Northern England.

When we want to measure or do something specific in a certain way we will that’s the rule of thumb. But what does it actually mean and where did come from? In the year of 1976 not only the cold war ended but NOW magazine published an article talking about the origins of this expression. They said the expressions spurred in 1782, an English judge said “a man should have the right to beat his wife with a stick as thick as his thumb”. Though there is no truth behind this statement made by the judge. Actually the truth is much more simpler and happier. The reference is used when with no scientific knowledge to prove otherwise. The rule is often used to describe vague things, imprecise things. Much like the thumb which is not a real instrument of measurement.
