Stupid Lawsuits Part 2

October 3rd, 2009

This my part 2 of the idiotic lawsuits, the trend continues with other outrageous lawsuits..Enjoy

The Plaintiff:Dave Feuerstein
The Defendant: Tesco Supermarkets, an english chain of supermarkets, duh.
The Lawsuit : At the time that Dave went to Tesco they had special offers, lots of them. He believes there were too many.
Because apparently carrying all the stuff he bought from special offers etc.., gave him back pain. He said “these offers are too good, Tesco should be more considerate and not make such offers.
If Tesco didn’t have this offer, I wouldn’t have hurt my back.”
The Verdict: Saddly the verdict is unknown till this day but if common sense was believed to be involved, we know who won and lost.

The Plaintiff:Two College students
The Defendant: Pace University, New York
The Lawsuit : The student had been given an introductionary assignement. The homework was to find the cost of an aluminum atom. The answer was $6.2205446335 x 10(-26) a trillionth times then a penny.
The students caused a fuss and brought the teacher court because they believed this was way to hard for an introductionary work.
The Verdict: And apparently the judge must have been through the same homework once, since he did find the teacher guilty of “educational malpractice”.

Did you know a Queen Termite lays an egg every second, now count how many seconds there are in one day, yes 86,000 is correct so that would be 86,000 eggs per day.

Mister or Mistress ?

September 30th, 2009

Before the current modern, well educated society, people didn’t believe men and women were capable of the equal. But some women went far to realize their dreams and these are the tales of those brave ladies.

Dr. James Barry

A British army surgeon and pioneer of many medical breakthroughs.. Barry wanted to go a reputed medical university which was a man only university at the time. The university of Edinburgh in 1808, Barry quickly managed to become the most famous students and then one of the best doctors in England. The medic wasn’t a soft spoken person he often picked fights with his colleagues and flirted with the ladies…alot. All the hates he got from his colleagues put him in early retirement.

In 1865, Barry died at the age of 73, that also seemed strange cause men would always die younger except for a few. Something everyone, who worked with him in the army realized, was that they never saw him naked and later from his body they discovered he was a women. How can some keep  such a big secret till their death, they can’t? Many people believed that her bosses knew she was women. So discrimination wasn’t really that bad back then or was it?

Charlie Parkhurst

He was known as one of the toughest stagecoaches drivers of the old west.  Parkhurst worked in a stage company in California. He was 5″7, strong upper body, gambled and liked to chew tobacco. Parkhurst always told everyone that he was an orphan. His friends noticed a few things about him, he never had facial hair, they thought he had a fetish against facial hair, he never went to the prostitutes with his friends and never slept in the same bad as his men friend. Other then those weird things about him, he was an ordinary guy.

In late 1860, Parkhurst was forced out of his job because of an illness. In December 31, 1879, he died in his home in the woods in Watsonville,California. A doctor who checked his body, noticed that it was a female. She had died of cancer and was once pregnant. One secret she did keep was, her identity. Till this day nobody know who that woman was.

Billy Tipton

A popular jazz musician from Washington from the 1930s and 1980s. He got married more then once, and the last one was the longest with Kitty Oakes. He had 3 children, all adopted. He said he couldn’t have normal sex because of some kind of injury. Even many of his fans suspected him because of his high pitch feminine voice.

In 1989, Tipton died out of a bleeding ulcer. He was 74 when it happened and the paramedics who attended his body discovered that he was a women, Katty apparently already knew that. His children were surprised, nobody had told them until the funeral that their dad was a woman. But they still remembered her as their dad.

Useful diet tips for sports persons to enhance their performance

September 27th, 2009

It is but true that in order to emerge as a successful sports person, one needs to do a lot of exercises and practice with dedication and involvement.

In addition to the exercises and practice, healthy and planned food is also essential for enhancing the performance, by providing the right amount of fuel and energy at the right time.

To get that extra edge over the other sports persons and stand-out in the crowd, a typical sportsperson requires the correct combination of food and exercises. In this article, let us concentrate on the food-related tips for enhancing the performance.

Preferred source of fuel is carbohydrates

Carbohydrates are the most preferred source of fuel for the people in general, and in particular, to the sports persons involving in physical activity. A sports person’s daily carbohydrate requirement can range between 2.7 grams to 4.5 grams per pound or 6 grams to 10 grams per kilogram of body weight of a sports person. Breads, grains, cereals, pasta, fruits and vegetables provide the high-octane fuel for the muscles for the sports persons.

Increased intake of fluids

During high activity, fluid losses increase the risk of cramps, heat exhaustion or heat stroke. As a sport person, one should drink before, during and after an event as part of the exercise routine. As a sportsperson, get into the habit of drinking lots of fluids even on days when you are not working out. Water, sports drinks, fruit and vegetable juices are the ideal choices for fluid. One should drink anywhere between 400 ml to 600 ml of fluid two hours before a workout or exercise, and around 150 ml to 350 ml of fluid every 15 to 20 minutes during exercise.

Timing the meals is very essential

As a sports person, if you are running a race or competing in an event, you should have a low-fat, high-carbohydrate meal at least two to three hours before hand. Eat foods that you are familiar with and that you can digest easily. If you have food in your stomach when you are working out, blood in the body is diverted away from your digestive tract to your working muscle leading to cramps and a heavy feeling.

In addition to the above mentioned important diet tips, one should also consider the following points

  • 1.Try to load carbohydrates before starting events that might long more than 90 minutes
  • 2.Replenish carbohydrate after exercises
  • 3.Replace the sodium and potassium lost during exercises with food

By following some or all of these tips, one can enhance the performance in the sports activities he takes up for gaining expertise.
